God in the Pledge of Allegiance

QUESTION: How do you feel about the reference to GOD in the Pledge of Allegiance in school rooms being a problem for some parents of children who do not believe in God? Or feel it is a violation of their Religious beliefs?

E’s ANSWER:
The Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892 but I discovered an interesting fact: it wasn’t until 1954 that the phrase “Under God” was added to the pledge, in response to the threat of communism. This was very surprising to me. I feel that if you are attending a school in the United States of America and the Pledge of Allegiance is a part of the school`s tradition, that it must be said by all attending the school. However, if the part  “ under God” bothers a person, just don’t say that part! Simple. Moving on!
